Re-Routing… But, when was the last time you got energy from tweeting?
Like, as of recently, I’ve been repeatedly asking myself, “In the last five years, why am I feeling more exhausted than ever before?”
Online, it seems that the cultural status quo for progressivism is “triggered.”
Constantly having to walk on eggshells, being lashed out at and lashing out at others; misinterpretations of tone via twitter; a zero tolerance for any sort of felt microaggressions. Where conservatism many times can struggle with a cheapened version of grace which permits (at times) sociopathic tendencies; within progressivism, I’ve found there to be no grace at all.
It’s these toxic ways of living. It’s this overwhelmingly negative form of thinking.
I feel like progressivism became more so defined by anger, trauma, and victimhood that it missed the building, loving, relating, creating and incarnating…
So then what’s the solution?
What brings you life? I mean, when was the last time you had a home-cooked meal with a group of people that bring you life? When was the last time you laughed so hard your stomach hurt?
What if the next time you go to tweet about how much you hate white supremacy, Donald Trump, or any other form of injustice consider replacing that righteous anger with an action that would tangibly uplift an oppressed person. I’m not saying don’t tweet (never be silent!); I’m just saying also, let us be active!
Amen?
