Honestly, I’m still trying to figure out how or why all of this happened; I’m still in that “denial” stage of grief, and am officially unsure of everything. I mean, literally, my brain can’t process this shit. I’m left wondering what billionaire or corporation Hillary might’ve upset; how the DNC could’ve mishandled the primaries; if Bernie would’ve been the better opponent; shit, is the Illuminati real (jokes)? But, like you never know, maybe Elon Musk is right, and we actually... Read more

It’s weird, but, as much resentment towards the Church as I’ve held onto I still listen to worship music. Like, a lot. I will admit that there’s not too much like corporate worship; I can’t tell you how much I miss singing in unison, the rush of raising one’s hands in worship and praise, knowing that everyone in that building is striving and struggling along the same mission (even though, sometimes they’re not, lol – but that’s another post for... Read more

I don’t know about you, but, I struggle with insecurity. Like, crippling amounts of deeply embedded insecurity. My insecurity, it’s this false belief in that I’m one of the very few that which struggles with feelings of embarrassment, insecurity, loneliness, and/or any other self-destructive behavior there is; all while oscillating in and out of various sets of emotions. I think they call this, “The Human Condition.” What makes this so incredibly confusing is my simultaneous desire of wanting to be known, heard, and/or truly seen. It’s... Read more

In the movie The Truman Show, the director of Truman’s show, is asked “Why do you think that Truman has never come close to discovering the true nature of his world until now?” Christof responds by saying, “[It’s because] we accept the reality of the world with which we’re presented. It’s that simple.” In short, Truman, he’s settled. If you’re familiar with this movie, you know it’s basic premise is built around a man (Truman) who was adopted by a corporation, placed... Read more

I’m having the hardest time fully understanding why our nation is so incredibly outraged over Colin Kaepernick’s decision to not stand during the national anthem. Empty, yet so incredibly fueled, accusations of unpatriotic treason are being hurled at Kaepernick with the intensity of which I feel would be better suited if geared towards our enemies as opposed to each other… ya know? Either way, in attempt to make sense of it, three quick things: 1) I don’t think it’s really as... Read more

I’ve been pissed at myself as of late. You see, I’m a grown ass man, and I can’t seem to will myself into waking up when I so choose. For the past several months I’ve been trying to work myself towards getting up and out of bed at 5:00am. I mean, I’ve done it – woken at 5:00am; I just have yet to do it on a consistent basis. Doing this isn’t a small change, it’s a complete overhaul in one’s lifestyle.... Read more

A little over 500 years ago we had Martin Luther, John Calvin, and Philip Melanchthon leading the reformation; fast forward, a bit, we see Billy Graham evangelizing to the masses in tent revivals; and soon thereafter there was, and still is, the progressive movement composed of evangelical leaders such as Tony Campolo, Brian McLaren, Jim Wallis, et al.; last but not least, we’ve seen our evangelical-esque, semi-bi-partisan, seeker sensitive model of church lead by guys such as Rick Warren, Andy Stanley, and... Read more

“So persistent is the cry of peace among the ruling classes and so strong the seeming abhorrence of every form of violence and anarchy that one might imagine them actuated by the purest pacifist principles, were it not for the fact that they betray no pacifist scruples when they consider international affairs. Most insistent upon peace within the nation, they are most easily provoked to join issue in martial combat with other nations.“ – Reinhold Niebuhr It’s easy for a... Read more

I honestly don’t understand this debate over whether or not those who identify as transgender should be allowed to use the bathroom in which corresponds with their gender. It’s not the nuanced differentiations between one’s gender and one’s sex; it’s the the psychology behind why this angers conservative Christians that I don’t understand. http://www.cnn.com/2016/04/24/opinions/trump-transgender-bathrooms-opinion-cupp/Question: why are Christians so riled up by transgendered people using the bathroom in which corresponds with their gender…? — andy gill (@itsandygill) May 25, 2016 I’ve... Read more

There seems to be a lot of talk surrounding the Black Panther Party; with Beyonce during the super bowl making a radical statement with her own personal homage towards the black struggle; this was alongside the resurfacing of Stan Lee’s character the Black Panther getting his own movie it’s lead me to wonder, what happened to the Black Panther Party? Founded by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale in October of 1966, in Oakland CA, the Black Panther Party (BPP) was... Read more
