Was Trump’s 2016 Election Rigged?

What election hasn’t been rigged?

There is voter suppression, discriminatory ID laws, confusing “butterfly ballots”… again, I ask, when has the election not been rigged?

When someone finds a point in time our election hasn’t been rigged I’m sure someone else will show them a time they’ve been duped.

Don’t get me wrong, I get how jaded this sounds and comes across – the hope here is for us to at the very least consider that those asking this question aren’t jaded (yet) so much as they’re showing care and engagement by their legitimate consideration of this question…

The facts are there; it’s almost, if not completely, come to a point in which, if you don’t participate in suppressing the vote, shady tactics, or unethical strategies then you’re campaign is almost guaranteed to lose. It’s the self-defeating double-edged sword in which we have to become a monster in order to defeat another monster.

I mean, has our country reached a point of indifference in regard to these unethical political tactics?

Did we just miss the 2014 research by Princeton University Prof Martin Gilens and Northwestern University Prof Benjamin I Page stating that the “US is an oligarchy, not a democracy…”?

And, if we did miss that are we also going to miss NBC reporting “U.S. intel: Russia compromised seven states prior to 2016 election“?

Even if there was no breach “Mother Jones has reported, discriminatory ID laws prevented 45,000 eligible voters from participating in the election, including 23,000 in two heavily Democratic counties. Trump won Wisconsin by 22,000 votes.”

If it helps, what inspired this post was a much longer and better-written article in the Los Angeles Times by Virginia Heffernan, “Was the 2016 election legitimate? It’s now definitely worth asking the question”

But, what made this particular LA Times article so scary for me was Heffernan’s highlighting of the fact that “The attorney general of Wisconsin, Brad Schimel, even boasted recently that Trump won Wisconsin chiefly because tens of thousands of eligible voters were turned away.” In other words, it’s as if cheating, or, “questionable practices” have become so far accepted in our society that attorney generals find pride in emulating demonstratively Machiavellian-esque tactics.

Is this what they meant by “making America great again”?

Has all hope been lost for not just making America ethical again but, getting the average American to care again for the sole purpose of making America democratic again?

Would love to hear y’all’s thoughts on whether or not you feel we’ve hope or if you feel there is a legitimate and logical reason for us to worry about the state of our union? So yeah, was Trump’s 2016 election rigged (or, any election/primary for this matter)? And, if so, what do we do about it?
