In her blog, Gaines acknowledges the ensuing “mommy guilt” that we often feel–like what we’re doing is somehow never enough. She kindly reminds moms that we need to stop allowing this mommy guilt to takeover. Instead, she encourages moms to simply explain to the children that being with them is our “favorite thing,” but we still have tasks to complete and work to do, similar to how they must do their school work and activities. Gaines also encourages us to stay connected to our kiddos by sending sweet notes with them to school or placing littles cards in their lunch boxes.
