Fifth Stop- Muzdalifah
Located between Arafat and Mina, is the town of Muzdalifah. Sleeping and spending the night under the sky, on the mountainside, right next to a highway made our tents in Arafat seem luxurious. All 2 million Hajjis are required to spend time here before heading to stone the Devil in Mina the next morning. We collected pebbles here to be used for the stoning.
Praying Fajr (Dawn prayer) at the foot of a mountain with my prayer mat uneven due to the terrain, and feeling the rocks in my feet, my knees and forehead, was a Salah I will never forget. Despite the physical difficulties, and perhaps because of them, we felt even more close to our creator, putting the comforts of our daily lives in perspective, making us realize how fortunate, and ungrateful, we really are.
