Top Ten things to know about Mercury in Scorpio

Feeling a little obsessive all of a sudden?  Do you find yourself caring more today about your position in the world than you did yesterday?  Do you have an intense need to know what’s really going on in the world?  Did you suddenly become interested in conspiracies?

Mercury has just entered Scorpio!  When the planet of the mind and communication travels through the sign of passion and power, nothing is superficial and everything becomes important.

Mercury will be turning retrograde in Scorpio (the final retrograde of the year!) and will be back in Libra by the 10th, so we will get a little sampling of what is in store when Mercury completes its tour of Scorpio in November. Here are some tips to get the most out of this powerful cycle:

1. Scorpio Mercury demands that we look below the surface to discover what is true and real.  If we attempt to live superficially while Mercury is in Scorpio we may find ourselves in a situation that forces us to look beyond the obvious.
2. This is a good time for that critical conversation you’ve been putting off.  It is easier now to strip away the subterfuge that keeps us from being able to be real and genuine with each other.
3. Mercury’s trip through Scorpio is excellent for writers and other creative people.  Our curiosity and intelligence becomes hyper-acute and it is easier to focus.
4. Under the influence of Scorpio we are hyper aware of who has power and who doesn’t.  This can lead to interpersonal problems if we’re not careful.
5. Notwithstanding #4, or maybe because of it, there is potential now to heal relationships through communication – especially when Mercury is retrograde.
6. Every opinion will be a passionate one under this influence.  Expect arguments and debates on just about every topic.
7. If you have a mystery that needs solving, it just might be cleared up when Mercury is in Scorpio (although that is more likely to happen after Mercury turns direct on October 25th).
8. The veil between the worlds is always thinner when Scorpio is involved, and you may find that your intuition is heightened. You may find yourself with a visitation from a loved one that has crossed over.
9. While Scorpio wants to know the secrets of others, it can be resistant to revelation and prone to self-protection.  While Mercury is in retrograde we may find it difficult to break down the defenses of others and it will be easier to respect those boundaries.
