Some Good News…

I have no idea when the Lord will be returning, but I do know that my time on earth is very limited. One day soon I’ll be standing before him in judgment. At that time, all of my words, thoughts and deeds will be examined. I’d like to think that I would be ready if it happened tomorrow, but I’m honestly not so sure. Even though I try to please the Lord, I know I often fail. You’re probably in the same boat.

What’s the matter? Not exactly the good news you expected? Okay, fair enough. Check out this Spirit-inspired message from St. Peter…

The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. (1 Peter 4:7-11)

That Was Good News?

I know, I know. You’re still not feeling it, right? Okay. Here’s why this is the best news you’ll hear all day. Even though our time on earth is running out and we’re all guilty of not living up to the Lord’s standards, it’s not too late! The fact that you’re able to read this means that you still have a chance to make some changes.

It’s easy for me to blame everyone else for the messed up state of the world, but I can’t control other people’s behavior. All I can do is control what I say and do. Do me a favor. Please pray that I’ll be able to cooperate with God’s grace and love more deeply. In return, I’ll pray for you too. Sure, time is running out and things are a mess, but we still have a chance. Can I get an “Amen”?
