Are You Content? A Wake Up Call For Us Complainers!

Are You Content? A Wake Up Call For Us Complainers! September 20, 2019

Are you content with what you have? I have to admit that sometimes I’m not. For that reason, the following words from St. Paul really got my attention today…

For we brought nothing into the world, just as we shall not be able to take anything out of it. If we have food and clothing, we shall be content with that. (1 Timothy 6:7-8)

If that’s not painful enough, check out the rest of his message…

Those who want to be rich are falling into temptation and into a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires, which plunge them into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all evils, and some people in their desire for it have strayed from the faith and have pierced themselves with many pains. (1 Timothy 6:9-10)

It’s pretty obvious that he’s not just talking to those who are wealthy. You can be poor and love money or want to be rich. Sometimes we think that having more money will solve our problems. It won’t. I don’t know about you, but I have some work to do. I’m going to pray about it. Wanna join me?

Abba Father, Sometimes I complain about what I don’t have. Whenever I do, I lose sight of all that I do have. You have blessed me in so many ways. My family and I have a place to live, food and clothing. Thank you for providing for us. Please forgive me for complaining so much and help me be more aware of your blessings and grateful for your providence. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
