Megyn Kelly Needs to Interview the Victims of the Duggar Sex Crimes, Not the Perpetrators May 31, 2015

Screen Shot 2015-05-31 at 10.50.42 AM  I just learned that Megyn Kelly at Fox News is going to do a sit down conversation with Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar this week and I have to say that it doesn’t surprise me at all.   What I would actually like to see is an interview with the victims of Josh Duggar, because I’d like to hear how the victims are feeling and how the victims have been impacted by all of this media coverage.  But no, according to the Duggars website the gist of the conversation is going to be about how the whole family dealt with forgiveness and walking through this situation.

The following appears on the Duggar Blog:

Next week we will sit down with Megyn Kelly on Fox News to share our hearts with you about the pain that we walked through as a family twelve years ago, the tears we all shed and the forgiveness that was given. We appreciate the outpouring of love and prayers for our family at this time.

-Jim Bob & Michelle Duggar

I’m wondering something here, and maybe it’s just me, but I am curious why we all need a lesson in forgiveness from two parents who hid a felony sexual crime from the public.  Even the convicted police officer has come out recently and said that good old Jim Bob lied to him about the crimes.

We know that Josh Duggar flat out lied about being a Christian when he committed his felony sex crimes.  His very own website said he became a Christian at age seven, not when he was 14 after he committed these sex crimes.

Remember this from Duggar’s apology:

Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. We spoke with the authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing and my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counseling. I sought forgiveness from those I had wronged and asked Christ to forgive me and come into my life. I would do anything to go back to those teen years and take different actions. In my life today, I am so very thankful for God’s grace, mercy and redemption.”

However on Josh and Anna’s blog the conversion took place when he was seven.

Josh was raised in Arkansas, the first child born to Jim Bob & Michelle Duggar. He accepted Christ at the age of seven, was homeschooled and graduated from High School at the age of sixteen.

Maybe it’s just me, but I think these little details matter and since we know the Duggars have lied about these little details, how many more lies will this new interview with the Duggars show us?  I’m going to guess a few.

One thing I don’t think will change after this interview airs is the division in the church.  We’re still going to see clear thinking people like Michael Reagan speak out against the Duggars and expect some serious answers and we’ll still see people like Mike Huckabee and others negate the pain and suffering of the victims.

Because let’s get this straight, this IS about the victims and it is ultimately about how there are predators within the family that got away with horrible horrible sex crimes.  It is also a real lesson in spiritual abuse and how those in authority protected the sexual perpetrator and how he ultimately got off free.
