Urgent Prayer Needed for Persecuted Christian Asia Bibi

(Photo credit: The Voice of the Martyrs)  Many years ago when I was the Editor for the Voice of the Martyrs Persecution Blog, a job I held for eight years, Asia Bibi was one of the biggest stories I covered.  If you’re not familiar with Asia’s case, a full recap can be found at Call for Mercy .  I’ll summarize her case here.

The short story is that Asia has been falsely accused of blasphemy and she has now spent almost six years in a Pakistani prison for a crime that even some of her original accusers are admitting they never heard her commit.  You can watch a shocking video here where the Muslim accusers  admit that they lied about hearing her blaspheme Muhammad.

Asia is also on death row and awaiting the death sentence that she has been given.  She has not only suffered emotionally, and had to deal with the unknown regarding her case, as she has gone before court proceedings and had court dates canceled numerous times, but she has also suffered physical beatings as well.  The latest report concerning Asia’s health is that she is now suffering from intestinal bleeding and she requires medical treatment.  Unfortunately, she hasn’t been able to receive proper medical treatment and her lawyers are working on getting her help.

Please join me in praying for Asia’s continued strength, health and faith.  She not only has suffered almost six years in prison, but she has a husband and children who are suffering also.  Earlier reports this year also revealed that her family is still in hiding, because they are under death threats.
