Spring Cleaning

Spring Cleaning

Mama's eye candy, our newly organized hall closet.

I have spent the past several weeks dealing with these two “hot spots” in my home.  A couple hundred dollars and a couple of trips to the Container Store later and I am pleased as punch with the results.  Our home is over 100 years old, and so closet space is extremely limited.  Our downstairs hall closet was a particular problem area, and so I’ve tried several different methods for organizing our shoes. My latest failed attempt involved bins, and these bins were constantly dumped out searching for a missing shoe.  Shoes strewn about the floor, the door was unable to shut, and a certain someone would actually spend time playing in the closet, effectively eliminating every last bit of organization.

After two weeks I can officially say that this shoe organizer has solved our problem.  The closet door now remains closed, even the 18 month old baby can find her shoes!!!, and we save 10 minutes every time we depart the house.

Pantry

My pantry is now clean and organized, thanks to a nifty little broom/dustpan/mop hanging thingy (that’s the offical term), and some extra shelves.

I’m a happy mama!

And spring has sprung! It’s going to be 80 degrees here today, and after a cold and rainy spring I’m welcoming the warm weather with open arms. Our schoolroom is now dually functioning as a greenhouse, but in only a few short weeks the little shoots will be outside in the garden.  Still searching for answer to our squirrel problem…
