Spiritual Directions
Prayers and questions
And new perceptions
About your creator and your greatest Love
A gentle nudge closer, no forceful shove
He’s whispering to you, Jesus all around and from above
Sometimes there is something beyond nice
Something so beautiful you can’t give it a price
Fall more deeply in love, in love with Jesus, your Christ
I was thinking just last night about how the best spiritual director ever was Jesus. He is Divine, but human. He did not go around calling himself a Spiritual Director but he was that, and so much more. He did not charge money, but he wanted us to give alms to those in need. A healer, a Spiritual Director, a teacher, Lover of all; He gave up His human life after horrible, yet holy suffering, for us sinners.
Some think Spiritual Direction is only for people who are in need of a major conversion because they are the epitome of mortal sin and a danger to society itself. Others think it is for Priests, Brothers, Sisters, Nuns and the old ladies always volunteering at church, always going to daily Mass.
Truth be told it is for anyone, no matter the depth, or lack of depth on their spiritual journey thus far.
It is open to all including the poor, disabled, disenfranchised.
It is also open to those who are questioning their faith and those who don’t agree with all that the church teaches.
It is also open to those discerning God’s will for their vocation in life.
It is also open to those who are not Catholic.
Spiritual Direction is not a time for argument, judgement of others including politicians or popes.
Nor is it the time or place for a Spiritual Director to ever judge a directee.
A non-divine human being who is a Spiritual Director is only an instrument or vessel to help his brothers and sisters fall more deeply in love with Christ.
A Spiritual Director, according to Fr. Boniface Hicks, OSB must have three things:
1. A Spiritual Director Themselves
2. A Active Spiritual Life
3. A Deep Love For Jesus.

Lent is a great time to try Spiritual Direction. Really though, anytime is a great time.
Thank You,

The spiritual director is not a guru who pulls magic phrases out of a hat, but simply a mediator and intercessor whose loving attention helps God to be more tangibly present. God has the power to work without mediation, but He has made it clear that He wants to work through us. Even when God intervened directly with St. Paul, for example, he then sent him to Ananias for a mediated assistance (Acts 9:10–19), and then to the Apostles (Gal 1:18; 2:1–10).
