Podcast: A Conversation with Alexia Salvtierra

On Tuesday, September 5, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the rescinding of DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals).

How should we as followers of Jesus respond to this? This was the central question of my conversation with Alexia Salvatierra.

Alexia Salvatierra is a pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and an immigration activist, the founder of the Faith-Rooted Organizing UnNetwork, and coauthor of Faith-Rooted Organizing: Mobilizing the Church in Service to the World. She has written for Sojourners and Christian Century.  

Serving for more than 35 years, Alexia has focused her work in community ministry, including church-based service and community development programs, congregational and community organizing, and legislative advocacy.

The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship was honored to have her as a guest presenter at this summer’s General Assembly, teaching the Fellowship about the Sanctuary Church Movement.
