I had a moment this week where I was drenched in magick.
Every cell felt like it was humming and thrumming some song of divine.
It was a Thursday. Like any other one. A few hours where I didn’t have anything scheduled. (Well, I had things scheduled, but I…wandered.)
Puttering is what some call it.
I call it following the magick. Because in those hours, I found answers and questions and godds clamoring for my attention.
All of my beloved divine team were surrounding me.
I was enveloped. And instead of saying “No, another time. I’m getting ready for a class.”
I arrived.
What I did or what I learned or what I felt is not necessarily the most important part.
To me, what I want to share with you is how to have more of those moments for yourself.
(And no, you don’t need hours of free time. But that was nice.)

No Matter Where You Are
Go to a place where you are alone. Or with cats. Or with a dog. Or a fish.
You could be in bed. Or at your desk. Or in the bathroom.
Or making breakfast.
Or outside in the wilderness. Or the local coffee shop.
Or the freeway. In a car. On a motorbike.
Maybe you are in a backyard. Or a parking lot. Or a swing set.
Near a tidepool. Or a cactus. Or a cloudy beach.
Or in a tent. A camper. A yurt.
Cold concrete.
Just for a moment. Arrive. Be. Just be where you are. There is no other perfect place.
With all of its ordinary-ness. With all of its not-really-anything-special-about-this.
Just here.
Just you.
Just now.
No Matter How You Are
I didn’t come with a plan or a mood or a meditation.
I didn’t step into magick because I was fully prepared or even willing.
There were things I had to do, certainly, but things I didn’t NEED to do. However, the second I stepped into the wave, I was pulled and dragged (consensually) to a few hours of discovery that reminded me that I am the spell too.
You might be seated, as I was. At a computer.
Then surrounded by equipment and echoes and my frame drum I haven’t picked up in a while.
The shape of the moon. The smoothness of memory.
Or you might lay down
Sit down or stand or shuffle or shimmy.
You might have a plan or a list or a vague nudge.
Or a song that tells you, “Listen. What might you do with this feeling? The one that only comes when you’re listening to a song like this and all of the stars are aligned?”
Stop. Listen. Or dance. Or pick up the drum.
See what it has to tell you.
Or that book that fell down.
Or the way the cat is curled up in a ball or stretched out on the rug.
Maybe you should stretch too. Or maybe you need to get small.
Or sink into those tears you’ve been holding back.
Or that laughter you think will be embarrassing.
The best moment when you feel all the things and there is no stopping them. They tumble out like a waterfall of glee and anger and power and inspiration.
Like magick.
Like magick that had always been there.
The Magick Waits for You
Like I said, what happened to me isn’t the point. What anyone else is doing is really not the point.
You are.
So, can you be where you are and fully, deeply pay attention?
Can you let each sense perk up and touch into that moment?
Are you willing to allow yourself to arrive without someone else’s expectations?
Right now.
There is no better time.
