“Today we see the same happening in China, as its government cracked down on demonstrators as the Olympics approached. And now here we are on the opening day of the Olympics. Will we offer the Chinese hope, or ignore their plight, play our games, and go home—just to watch 20 years down the road China still be just as entrenched in oppression as they and Burma are today?
The way things have been going, might as well let the human-rights mockery that are the Games begin.”
