Republicans make good

Michael Steele, former Lt. Gov. of Maryland, has been elected the first African-American chairman of the GOP. Steele is thoughtful, conservative, and the first African-American elected to a statewide office in Maryland. Maryland, by the way, is a largly Democratic state. Good move by the Republicans, though the process of winning a larger chunk of the African-American electorate is going to take a lot more work and much longer time.
