Engaging a Generation for Justice

Engaging a Generation for Justice June 25, 2014

Often the Church does many things well: outreach in their neighborhoods, dynamic worship services, and children and youth programs to name a few. However, one of the gaping absences in church community often is a point of entry or transition for young adults. How do we serve them? How do we help them navigate the questions and complexities of adult life? How can we help connect their questions, passion and lived experiences to their Christian faith?

One organization taking on these difficult challenges in real, transformative ways is Mission Year. In my latest Sojourner’s article, I sat down with Shawn Casselberry, Executive Director of Mission Year, to find out more about how they empower young adults to live out their values in the context of church, community, and even daily life. I invite you to read it and share your thoughts. What challenges do you think our young adults face when transitioning to the “real world”? How can the church respond more actively?
