I’m no economist, so I’m expecting that someone who understands global commerce better than I will set me straight. But until then… I, like a lot of people, am concerned about American foreign debt. It threatens to compromise the overall value of our currency and is mortgaging the future of multiple generations to come. We’ve embarked on an untenable lifestyle no politician interested in re-election will press us to give up, and we show no signs of abating our appetites.... Read more
You know, I always hedge when people ask me where I’m from, because the second I tell them I was born and raised in Texas, all kinds of stereotypes pop up in the conversation. Yes, I can read. Then in the second story, the Catholic Church in Ireland has threatened to excommunicate any lawmakers who vote contrary to Church teaching in an upcoming parliamentary vote on abortion. In the Gingrich story, the primary issue supposedly is that... Read more
Is Bitcoin the one-world currency mentioned in the Book of Revelation? Are vegan strip clubs as good as advertised? Are Doritos Locos Tacos delicious? Is Amy Piatt having a bad week? Find out, on this week’s episode of the CultureCast! This is a different show than we’ve ever done. For one, we recorded outside. For two, I mostly edited the episode, which is why this show took so damn long to get out. It was a learning process. Our guest... Read more
Good news is we’re having a potluck after church today. Bad news is some of the dishes have testicles in them. Enjoy! Read more
On April 10, 2013, the Socratic Society at Oregon State University invited Todd Miles and Christian Piatt to debate on the topic; “Hell and the Love of God.” Dr. Miles took the position that hell, as a place of eternal, conscious suffering, was consistent with a God of love. Mr. Piatt took the position that a loving God was not consistent with the contemporary Christian notion of such a fate. Following is the portion where Miles and Piatt Cross-examine each... Read more
