This morning I was smelling the damp earth as a light mist fell on all of us. Parents and children lined up outside of the school waiting for my daughter’s kindergarden to start. I was talking to another mother, just starting to show her pregnancy, still dealing with the nausea of her first trimester. I found out from her that Ailee’s preschool teacher from last year is due any day now with her own new person. It made me think... Read more

I’m so excited, I finally finished my first apron that includes a block print. It was an adventure, figuring out how to set the ink in the fabric, and getting everything together. I finished it last night and I’m really happy with how it turned out. It’s a pocket-palooza of apron. All told it’s got 7 pockets. I’ve got Pocket Power! I feel like I need a wondertwin. Form of giant panda! The kids have been watching the old school... Read more

It’s good to be getting back to my regular routine. What with going out of town, and my very first entry into an art show, I’ve been feeling a little unbalanced (In a good way!) What can I say? I guess I’m just a creature of habit. Not such a bad thing, I think, as long as I’m sure I like my habits! So here’s my postcard for the wonderful Postcard Friendship Friday blog party. I like the front a... Read more

So I just made my to do list, and it’s length is a little intimidating! Still I’m back on track. I’m really excited because I entered my very first art exibition. Entries for the Greater Lansing Recycled Art Exhibition were due last friday, so most of my free time last week was spent getting that together. I’ve never written an Artists Resume before, and mine was pretty thin. Still, just entering was a great learning experience, so I’m happy. I’ll... Read more

Here are some pics of my craft night. My friend Sara came and bestowed new stuffie goodness upon me. Up above is Shellinton Snailsworth, the prettiest snail I ever saw. She’s started her own blog over at Dust Bunny, so drop over there for more stuffy cuteness. Yay! Here’s her turtle pincushion. Marie and I are working hard while Wopletinger and Shellington laze about. Things got odd toward the end. Stinky happiness and wopletinger tea parties. Much fun was had... Read more

I’ve been crafting like crazy this past week! I am just about done with the first block, you can see the test print above. I only had a red ink pad, so that’s what color she was. I need to make her front leg holding the thread a little more noticeable. You can see where there was something on the block on the wing making a little blotch that obscures some of the wing. I was going to try and... Read more

I love that shot. What a view! I wonder what they were looking at when their behinds were immortalized in a photo. A parade maybe? The postcard is from an exhibit on the beginnings of photography in England, so maybe they were looking at a young Queen Victoria? Whatever it was, it was surely something grand. They did grand in those days. We don’t really do grand anymore. Spectacular, yup. Glittering and gorgeous, sure. Grand, not so much. Oh well,... Read more

Here’s a photo of my new sewing workspace. We rearranged and now I get really nice light from a western window, and everything feels much more open. You can see one of my projects sitting in the foreground. I’m working on making new reusable pads for myself. (Egads!) I’ve been really feeling creative recently. I’ve got a couple of new projects in the works, and I’m close to finishing a couple of others. My new project involves art and home... Read more

I love this postcard. It’s one of my favorites in my collection (thus far). It’s not that I’m so in love with the street or the crowd of people on the front of the card. J’adore the back. Look at that handwriting. The finesse and flair! If I could write Mademoiselle like that, you know I would be so devastating. Alas, I will have to content myself with imagining what kind of elegant person penned the back of that postcard.... Read more

It’s hard to for me to believe that I’ve been writing in this blog for more than a year now. I glided right by my first anniversary, but I sure noticed 100 posts! Well, I must say, I’m enjoying blogging more than ever, meeting people and getting involved with my very first swap over at IHanna’s blog! The painting is coming along. I finally got over my fear of messing it up and moved forward. I like where it’s going,... Read more
