Heading toward the iceberg

Heading toward the iceberg October 10, 2016

Atlantic City NJ has just lost a Trump casino
Like the man for whom it’s named, the Trump Taj Mahal simply OOZES dignity, self-restraint, and class.  (Wikimedia Commons)

The Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, New Jersey, is closing its doors, putting about 3200 workers out of business.  (See here.)  Mr. Donald J. Trump, a brilliant and highly successful businessman, lost his stake in the casino-hotel a long time ago through a series of bankruptcy proceedings.

But so what?  The timing of this closing is suspicious.  It’s probably been orchestrated by The Republican Establishment and by The Liberal Media in order to make our Leader look bad.

And now for some news about Mr. Donald J. Trump acting in his capacity as respecter of women:

“After failing to seduce Nancy O’Dell, Donald Trump reportedly tried to have her fired”

“Geraldo: I Have More ‘Embarrassing’ Tapes of Trump”

I saw one Trumpist dismissal of the leaked tapes that said, effectively, “Big deal!  Mr. Trump was a billionaire playboy back then.”  Right.  Back when he was just an immature young 59-year-old husband and father with a new (and pregnant) wife.

And here’s an admission from Rudy Giuliani — who, although he’s an embarrassingly ardent friend and backer of Mr. Trump, is also a former federal prosecutor — that what Mr. Trump was describing on the leaked tape wasn’t merely “frivolous language” or “just words” or “locker-room talk” but sexual assault.

But it’s not just the tape, and it’s not just that one incident:

“Don’t just listen to Donald Trump boast about sexual assault. Listen to the women who’ve accused him”

“I have great respect for women,” said Mr. Trump in last night’s debate.  “Nobody has more respect for women than I do.”

Sure.  I trust him.  Don’t you?

CNN has posted a piece by a Clinton supporter — warning: it contains some offensive language —  that lists a few of the ways in which Donald Trump is unworthy of the presidency.  I recommend it as a helpful reminder:

Paul Ryan, the highest-ranking elected Republican in the nation, says that he will no longer defend Donald Trump:

And, oh yes, what about Mr. Trump’s promise to nominate conservatives to the Supreme Court of the United States?  Well . . .

“Vindictive Trump Nullifies His Own Arguments”

In another development:  Wayne Grudem, a prominent Evangelical Protestant theologian, endorsed Mr. Donald J. Trump some time ago.  Now, he apologizes and retracts that endorsement:

“Trump’s Moral Character and the Election”

Unsurprisingly, the latest polls indicate that Mr. Trump is currently behind by a substantial margin.

See, for example, Rasmussen and UPI/CVoter.

But, alas, that leaves us with Clinton Inc.:

“WATCH: Juanita Broaddrick Emotionally Describes Brutal Rape By Bill Clinton”

The Trumpist hijacking of the Republican Party will have done enormous damage not only to that political party and to the conservative movement in America but, in the end, to the nation as a whole.  We could have had a decent candidate.  We might have beaten Hillary Clinton.

Thanks, guys!
