“Their Anger Did Increase Against Me”: Nephi’s Autobiographical Permutation of a Biblical Wordplay on the Name Joseph

Today’s article represents the 232nd consecutive Friday on which Interpreter: A Journal of Mormon Scripture has published at least one scholarly paper, essay, or review.  The Interpreter Foundation was founded 233.5 weeks ago.

Very nearly four years ago a very confident pseudonymous critic on a small, extraordinarily nasty, and mostly atheist ex-Mormon message board presumed to prophesy:

“By Jan. 1, 2014 Interpreter will be dead. . . .  Either totally dead or down to token ‘blog’ style postings.” (Bond James Bond, 25 January 2013)

I suspect that “Bond James Bond” also does palm readings, casts horoscopes, and sells hot tips on the horses at racetracks.

The Interpreter Foundation runs almost entirely on the basis of donated labor, time, and money.  Just in case you’re still considering a year-end gift — even what might be considered small amounts are gratefully welcomed — here are instructions for how to make a donation to Interpreter:
