Don’t forget the screening of the Interpreter Foundation’s new film, Robert Cundick: A Sacred Service of Music, that will occur today (Sunday) at 3 PM Utah time on BYUtv.

Just back tonight from a really enjoyable performance of the comedy Pillow Talk (famously filmed with Doris Day and Rock Hudson) at the Hale Center Theater in Orem.

I neglected to mention, last week, that we attended a production of The Heart of Robin Hood at the Hale Centre Theatre in West Valley City a week ago tonight.  Since we had seen a play in San Diego during the prior week that offered a new take on the old story (written specifically for that stage), I thought that it would be interesting to see this different one, which represents a regional premiere.

I’m not entirely certain, but it’s possible that this will have been the last time that we’ll ever attend a Hale performance there.  The new Hale theater in Sandy is already partially open, and they’ll be moving there.  That’s really nice from our perspective, since it’s a substantially shorter drive for us.  And who matters, really, besides me?

Here — as if you haven’t already been disgusted enough! — is yet another story, beyond those that I’ve posted previously, about how Mormons are, as usual, doing nothing at all to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey:

“LDS missionaries muck homes, clear debris and deliver hope following historic Texas floods”

And there’s this, which demonstrates beyond any reasonable doubt that the wicked Mormons have no intention of doing anything to help:

“7 ways to help with Hurricane Harvey relief”

I like this article by Steven Harper, and I recommend it for your reading and enjoyment:

“Evaluating the Book of Mormon Witnesses”

Joseph Smith’s mother, who was visiting the Prophet in Fayette at the time that the Three Witnesses saw the angel Moroni, the plates, and the other objects, and heard the voice of God testifying to the truth of the Book of Mormon, recalled her son’s joy and relief after this manifestation:

“When Joseph came in [to the Whitmer home], he threw himself down beside me. ‘Father! Mother!’ said he, ‘you do not know how happy I am. The Lord has caused the plates to be shown to three more besides me, who have also seen an angel and will have to testify to the truth of what I have said, for they know for themselves that I do not go about to deceive the people. And I do feel as though I was relieved of a dreadful burden which was almost too much for me to endure. But they will now have to bear a part, and it does rejoice my soul that I am not any longer to be entirely alone in the world.’”

(Lucy Mack Smith, “The History of Lucy Smith, Mother of the Prophet,” 1844–45 manuscript, book 8, p. 11, Church Archives.)

I think that we ought to be equally happy.  Yet, in my view, the story of the Witnesses hasn’t been told as effectively as it should be, and the power of their testimony hasn’t been fully appreciated, even among the Latter-day Saints.

One of my major lifetime goals is to help to change that.

More details forthcoming.
