Qumran Cave 4Q
The tour that I’m leading stood this afternoon at precisely the same place from which this photograph of Qumran’s Cave 4Q was taken. Roughly 3/4 of the Dead Sea Scrolls that were found in the immediate vicinity of the Qumran ruins were discovered in Cave 4Q.

Sometimes, on this trip, I don’t even know what day it is.  And I’m often behind.  So I’m rather late in calling attention to this new piece from Interpreter: A Journal of Mormon Scripture:

““The Time is Past”: A Note on Samuel’s Five-Year Prophecy”

I hope that you enjoy it!

And, for those of you who teach or attend Gospel Doctrine classes in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, here’s an item that might be both interesting and helpful:

“Why and How Should We Study the Old Testament?  Gospel Doctrine Lesson 19: The Reign of the Judges (Judges 2; 4; 6-7; 13-16) (JBOTL19A)”

And had I mentioned this one?

“Did Joshua “Utterly Destroy” the Canaanites?:  Gospel Doctrine Lesson 18: “Be Strong and of a Good Courage” (Joshua 1-6; 23-24) (JBOTL18A)”

Moreover, please don’t forget the Interpreter Radio Show:

I haven’t been able to listen while I’ve been overseas, but I have every reason to believe that it’s still going on.

Have you heard the 29 April 2018 broadcast?  The host was Martin Tanner, discussing a variety of topics, including Joseph Smith’s educational background, Martin Harris and Charles Anton, the Joseph Smith Papers Project, the fate of the 12 apostles, Emma Smith, and Early New Testament Manuscripts:

And how about the 22 April 2018 broadcast?  The hosts that evening were Allen Wyatt, Craig Foster, and Matt Bowen. Topics discussed included onomastic wordplay in the Book of Mormon, other ancient scripture, and ancient cultures. The hosts also discussed Steve Smoot’s review of John Gee’s latest book, An Introduction to the Book of Abraham. Allen Wyatt and Craig Foster discussed how to help youth maintain faith and how each of them was drawn to the world of apologetics.

The most recent installment of my personal column for the Deseret News (now reduced, alas, from weekly to bi-weekly) appeared a couple of days ago:

“Idolatrous deities and the Book of Abraham”

I apologize for my tardiness in posting a link to it.

For that matter, while I’m at it, I can’t really remember whether I called attention to the latest Hamblin/Peterson column in the Deseret News:

“Relics of the crucifixion”

I suppose that it will do no harm to mention it again.
