Anti-Gun activist encourages Philly Eagles to take gun safety classes – but when I did the same thing, libs went nuts January 4, 2017

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz gave his teammates personalized shotguns for Christmas, since they protected him all season like The Blaze noted.

Wentz purchased multiple Beretta Silver Pigeons, retailing at $2,000 a piece, and each firearm will have the player’s number engraved on the stock. For now, they’ve only seen a picture until the engraving is finished, but his teammates can’t wait to hold them in their hands:

“This is an awesome gun. I’m excited about it,” said offensive lineman Allen Barbre, who is also a hunter. “I don’t know if I’ll shoot it, though. It’s pretty nice.”

Eagles offensive lineman Brandon Brooks told ESPN, “I like to go clay shooting and stuff. All I’ve got is a home defense tactical shotgun, short-barrel, so I was looking for one of these.”

One lineman, rookie Isaac Seumalo, will need a little help to enjoy his present. He told ESPN, “I haven’t really held a gun or anything before, but I’m more than thankful for it. It looks sweet. Carson said he’d teach me how to use it and all that good stuff.”

Wentz, also a rookie for the Eagles, is a hunter and actually received the call that he made the team while hunting geese. But the executive director of anti-gun organization CeasefirePA, Shira Goodman, wasn’t as excited about the gifts:

“This is certainly an interesting and unusual gift, I’ve heard of quarterbacks buying their offensive line ATVs or steak dinners… [but] Putting locks on these guns will make them safer.”

Oops!  Guess they didn’t know the trigger locks and cable locks they were hoping to give the players won’t work with an over-under shotgun. This caused, @GunOwners to tweet: “Maybe it’s the gun controllers who have a thing or two to learn about responsible firearm ownership.”

CeasefirePA also suggested the players take a firearms safety course.

Remember this ad, which suggested people take a certified safety course in handling and using a firearm?  It caused liberals to pass the smelling salts:

Interesting that when I ran this PSA years ago these same lefties excoriated me as irresponsible. Now this anti gun org is advising the players who received guns as gifts to take a safety course.

How did it go from being irresponsible to being responsible?

Maybe these so-called elite liberals only want millionaire NFL players to be able to protect themselves, not ordinary Americans.
