WATCH: Sheriff Clarke and Geraldo Rivera debate sanctuary cities

On St. Patrick’s Day, I was on Fox News’s Hannity along with Geraldo Rivera to debate illegal immigration and sanctuary cities.

I made it clear that President Trump is serious about building the wall, sealing off our southern border and making America safer. I also talk about how I recently sent a letter of intent to the acting director of ICE asking to be certified to participate in the 287-G program, which after training and certification, will give my deputies and corrections officers in the jail the authority to enforce immigration laws.

This isn’t so we can start conducting home raids, or business raids, but finding people who are here illegally and have been convicted of serious crimes and schedule them for deportation. It’s as reasonable as that. This isn’t something the federal government can force us to do, but as willing participants, I want to fulfill my obligation as a protecter of the citizens of Milwaukee.

However, my good friend Geraldo didn’t see it my way and disagreed whole heartedly.
