The highly esteemed author (and friend) Heather Mac Donald spoke at UCLA on Wednesday after being invited by the Bruin Republicans.  They wanted her to speak about her fantastic book The War on Cops: How the New Attack on Law and Order Makes Everyone Less Safe.

As if on cue, Black Lives Matter rioters stormed the stage. and started chanting, “Black lives — they matter here! Black lives, they matter here!” Guess they don’t get the irony.  But more activists got in the front of the  room, shouting, “America was never great!”

It lasted for at least eight minutes, then a black activists asked if black lives ended by cops mattered.  Mac Donald said. “Yes, and do black children that are killed by other blacks matter to you?”  This caused fury – people began to yell “bullshit” and screaming.  Eventually, MacDonald had to be escorted away by police, worried for her very life.

What am I missing here?

Her fist Amendment rights and those in attendance were violated and SHE was asked to stop?  Instead of the police escorting you away, they should have disbanded the rioters so that a counter-view can be heard on a college campus.

Our side must begin to DEMAND that police allow us to exercise our 1st Amendment rights and do what they have to in order for that to happen. MacDonald was not the cause of the disturbance, THEY were. THEY should have been disbursed and ordered from the scene under threat of arrest. All reasonable force should have been used to allow MacDonald’s side the same 1st Amendment protection that these goons are allowed when they riot.

If these hood rats had gathered in a public park for a rally attended by 300 and the police felt is was getting out of control due to crowd size and they ordered the park cleared in the name of quelling a possible disturbance, they would scream bloody murder and a violation of their right to assemble. A court in this day and age would agree and provide damages.

We’re losing this war because we’re allowing these goons to dictate the terms of engagement. Why are they allowed to behave in this riot like behavior with impunity. The tail is wagging the dog here. Our side is going to have to start filing lawsuits against the leaders of these riots AND police if they ask us to leave.

I would have kept speaking and told police I was there to exercise my freedoms and demanded protection. What would they have done? Arrested the speaker?

At some point we are going to have to physically confront these bastards and have this showdown.

I wish I had been there.
