Get something free for Lent—besides the ashes

Get something free for Lent—besides the ashes February 12, 2014

My pal Brandon Vogt dropped by my office yesterday and in between catching up on the weather in Orlando (very warm) and Chicago (very cold) he said, “Hey, I wanted to tell you about something we’re doing at Word on Fire for Lent.”

He sent me an email this morning with a link:

Would you like a deeper, more powerful Lent this year? To start each day by drawing closer to Christ? Then sign up for Fr. Robert Barron’s free daily Lent reflections list.

Each day, from Ash Wednesday (March 5) until Easter Sunday (April 20), Fr. Barron will send you a short reflection, straight to your inbox. In addition, you’ll receive exclusive videos not found anywhere else, special discount codes for new products, and giveaways throughout Lent including DVDs, CDs, signed books, and more. The best part is that it’s all FREE!

Check out Fr. Barron’s intro below. And sign up for the reflections here.

Be sure to visit Brandon’s other important project, Strange Notions, an important evangelistic project that he describes thusly:

The central place of dialogue between Catholics and atheists. It’s built around three things: Reason. Faith. Dialogue. Each day you’ll find articles, videos, and rich comment box discussion concerning life’s Big Questions.

Brandon’s doing some remarkable work—and he’s just a little sprout of 27.

When I was 27, I was a newlywed who had just moved to New York, and we were living in a two family house in Queens. I was working the overnight shift for CBS Radio, and spending my free time catching up on lost sleep, drinking bad coffee to stay awake, and writing the great screenplay that no one would ever read.

Brandon, meantime, is saving souls and changing the world. Oh, and he has three little kids (with a fourth on the way).

God love him.
