I received this email this morning:
As of a week ago the new Chancellor & Diocesan Ecumenical Officer for the Diocese of St. Augustine is Deacon David Williams. And his assistant is also a deacon.
His first appearance on the ecumenical scene was on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015 as seen in this photo. [Deacon Williams is on the far right.]
The Ecumenical Vespers was started in January 2014 under Bishop Felipe J. Estevez and Deacon Williams’s predecessor, Fr. Michael P. Morgan, who is now a Monsignor and who was just appointed a legal counsel to the Papal Nuncio in Washington, DC also as of this week.
The Ecumenical Vespers in Northeast Florida is the largest such local ecumenical event at the bishop-level in Florida. (I don’t know about any similar event around the country.) In January 2014, when our diocese started the tradition, we even had a larger turnout of ecclesial leaders.

Congratulations, Deacon!
