The Deacon's Bench
From Rome Reports, the Holy Father is shown in this video washing the feet of 12 jailed teenagers —including two Muslims and two girls—and wearing the stole of a deacon.
UPDATE: A couple readers have noted that it appears Pope Francis is actually wearing his priest’s stole, turned to one side. They suggest he did that to keep it out of the way and make the foot-washing easier. But it appears in the video that he is wearing a towel or cincture of some sort around his waist, which would already keep the stole out of the way. I’ve never seen a priest wear the stole for that particular action; it looks like the pope made a conscious choice to wear one and wear it that particular way.
