Man is a profit loving animal.. who cannot get away from betting as a gambler to make more money. Here is a “Letter to the Editor” of Daily Times (a Pakistani Daily). The anguish and disgust of the writer is very palpable!
Sir: In total disregard of the sufferings of the earthquake victims, some miscreants in the twin cities have been predicting more earthquakes on specific dates. The rumours are now so widespread that in spite of repeated assurances by geologists that such predictions are baseless the electronic as well as print media has been forced to carry some of the stories. This has caused unwarranted panic among the residents of Islamabad and its suburbs.
But, the most unfortunate and bizarre aspect of this activity is that some people have actually started betting on such speculation. In several parts of Rawalpindi, bookmakers are taking bets, on a large scale. Given that the odds appear to be generous they are making a killing. What can be more insensitive that this?
