Blogging Trends – Gender and Personality Biases

Sudipta talks of a research study by Scott Nowson.. who looked at 71 blogs over a month and found amazing trends with respect to gender differences and personalities of the bloggers. So much so that bloggers seem pretty consistent in their ways of expressing themselves – including the types of topics and language they use. What struck me most was this part of her blog post – probably a cue to what the next level of blog-related social network may be like:

"…that future natural language processing programs will probably be able to tie together multiple blogs and online personalities by the same person, perhaps even generate a blog post that looks sufficiently like your own! And of course there might be programs that chart out your personality profile from the blog, even recommend potential people whose blogs/personalities you might like, taking social networks and online dating to the next level."
