Hello Rumi Tuesday! A Great Silence… April 19, 2016

Hello Rumi Tuesday

Stillness, Lone tree, Lake wanaka, New Zealand

A great silence
overcomes me,

and I wonder
why I every thought
to use language.

Tawhid (Unity) is the Very Meaning
of Annihilation
in the Presence
of the Eternal Divine Subsistence

Tawhid – the realization of Divine unity –
is the [seeker’s] becoming realized in Divine qualities
by passing away from human qualities,
in such a way that in [his] final state
he is as he was in his original state,
and that he is as he was before he existed.

Fana (annihilation) in the Unity
occurs when the [seeker] is consumed
in the One and Only,
and does not turn [his attention] to other
than Him or to himself.

For his self, in its aspect of being his self,
is other than Allah;
even though in another way or
manner of looking at things
it is not considered “other.”

One can also say that
annihilation in the Divine oneness
(fana in tawhid)
is the contemplative witnessing
which the veraciously truthful possess.

Since they do not see but one,
they do not see themselves either.
If he does not see himself due to
being consumed in the Divine oneness,
this means he is annihilated
from himself in His oneness.

In other words,
he passes away from the vision of himself and creation.

~ Shaykh Muhammad al-Jamal ar-Rafa’i ash-Shadhuli
How the Arrival is Realized

The language in the state of realized Divine Unity
is found only in the silence.
