Hello Rumi Tuesday! The speechless full moon… April 26, 2016

Hello Rumi Tuesday

full moon rise 550x290

Your old life
was a frantic running
from silence.

The speechless full moon
comes out now.

A Note from Mastura

This poem felt particularly appropriate today.
In my meditation this morning, I saw a persona of my younger self,
the image she portrayed and who she chose to be.

I realize in this moment, she was living just outside of myself.
When I looked at her, I didn’t like her.

She had tried hard to be something she thought others would accept and like.
It never happened in the way she had hoped.

She carried so much pain.
I had kept her pushed outside of my body all these years.

She doesn’t look like me today.
She’s the me I had left behind,
hoping no one would ever find out about her –
hoping she was gone – the past I’d left behind.

She was the old life, a frantic running from the silence.

But wait!
She is me and always has been – a seeker of love and truth.
She just hadn’t found it yet.

Thank God for mercy, forgiveness, compassion and love.

Today I welcomed her back inside
and embraced her sincerity and beauty.

Thank God she never stopped looking.
We now sit as one in the reflection of
the speechless full moon.
