Twice a year we welcome new students into our Masters of Divinity program at The University of Spiritual Healing & Sufism.
Words like University and Masters degrees describe the academia side of the program, which is exquisite. Yet the heart of the program for me is still the Spiritual Healing and the mystical experience of Sufism. That’s what makes this program like no other – and really difficult to describe.
How do we describe an experience of cleansing the ego and coming into closer communion with God? We try, and the trying takes us out of the experience of being, which separates us and takes us back to the humanity. And yet the humanity is contained within the divinity and vice versa… It really challenges us to break our pictures about what God and humanity are and are not.
Every time a new group begins their first session, I’m flooded with emotion. We made this video for our new class that started this past weekend, and I thought you might enjoy it.
Hopefully, the photos and music of this video will give you a feel beyond what words can describe.
The photos are of the lands at the retreat center of our sister organization, The Shadhiliyya Sufi Center, in Pope Valley, California – a sacred space for transformation. We are blessed to have them.
Blessings and gratitude,
Mastura
