Up – Movie Review

1952-UpMoviePoster Another great Pixar creation!  It made me laugh, it made me cry -big shocker- and it moved my heart: go after big dreams!  Never give up!  Do what’s right!  It was awesome.  There was one part of the story line that irked me, but overall I heartily enjoyed it!

Grade: A

Recommend: Yep!

* A word on the PG-13 rating…

Against my better judgement I took Ransom to see it.  Dave was at a conference for 6 days & perhaps Mama was going a little stir crazy and needed a movie more than little man did.

During the sad parts, he didn’t understand why bad things were happening & was pretty upset and so I had to spend time talking him through it.  During the disappointing parts, he would say out loud -very loudly- “OH NO, MAMA!”  And then I’d have to tell him to whisper (again) & explain to him why things don’t always work out.  And then there were the scary parts, like a bird getting chased by three angry, drooling, vicious dogs at which he was visibly frightened.  On top of all that, the moments of greatest triumph and joy were over his head in a major way.  So, all in all, it was hard for him to enjoy.

Afterwards, in the car when I asked him if he liked it he said, “nope.  It was too scary. I just like to watch movies at home.”  Note to self, don’t take a 3.5 yr. old to see a PG-13 movie even if it is Pixar! 🙂
