My Sensitive Hubby (well, sensitive as an axe that is)

My Sensitive Hubby (well, sensitive as an axe that is) September 10, 2009

Last night I woke up moaning and breathing heavily from a very intense charlie horse in my right calf muscle. It startled Dave & he woke up pretty confused and asked what was wrong. “I’ve got a really bad charlie horse in my leg,” I responded. He says, “so your not in labor?” “No.” And with all the sensitivity of a blunt axe he says,”well, then can I go back to sleep?” Meanwhile I’m still writhing in pain. Ahhh, my sweet hubby.

Today I’m heading to Downtown Detroit to speak at my alma-mater, Wayne State University at their InterVarsity Chapter. The drive is 2.5 hrs. but I’m allowing 3 hours since I’ll have at least 3 bathroom breaks & need to stop at some point for dinner. And then I’m allowing an additional 15 minutes because the walk from where I need to park to the building is so long & I am so slow right now with my gargantuan belly. I also need an additional 10 minutes to change my clothes once I get in there since I have to drive in the most comfortable clothes I have. So, for a meeting that starts at 6:30pm, I have to leave my house at like 2:30pm. It’s amazing how the pregnancy makes my frequent InterVarsity travel a lot more stressful. By the time this meeting is over I am going to be absolutely whooped.

In other pregnancy news, my baby is breech again! 🙁 If your wondering how I can tell, it’s because of his hiccups and being able to tell where they are coming from. He’s back to his head on the right & his big butt pushing into the front of the left side of my belly making it look very abnormally shaped & sticking out a good 2 inches further from the other side. It’s incredibly painful & yesterday when I sneezed my stomach muscles on that left side which are stretched beyond their limits, just stung for like 10 minutes. I’m hoping he goes head down by my next appointment.

Good news is, I’m still hovering around 182 pounds & haven’t gained in the last two weeks. Which means I’ve gained less than 20 pounds overall & should be able to take it off pretty easily post baby. I guess I didn’t know how lucky I had it with Ran. I lost all my baby weight -every single pound- at 6 weeks post-partum. Since it was my only experience with pregnancy I just assumed that was normal or typical. Not so. Sorry ladies for my ignorance as you all roll your eyes at me! I don’t think it will be quite 6 weeks this time around but I’m happy I haven’t been packing on the pounds with all my eating lately. With Ransom I gained 35 pounds overall, so I’m surprised I’m not bigger. Well, I mean, fatter. My belly is as big as big can be.

As for the baby, Doc thinks my little guy is still pretty big for his fetus age & is probably around 4-5 pounds all ready. Considering what a hard time I had pushing Ran’s big head out (he was an 8 pound baby) I need to start focusing on my Kegels again! 🙂

Lastly, I wanted to apologize for my lateness in getting to my book club post & my goal of a daily blog post. As I’ve mentioned before, life has been really stressful dealing with some of my family drama & I’ve been barely able to pry my eyes open during my work day, let alone adding a blog. Also, if you haven’t noticed I’ve been working with a web-developer to spruce this place up a bit, so any extra time has went there. Hang with me, blog readers. Know that I love & appreciate your blog-reading, your comments & encouragements.

(The book club will resume this Sunday, only one chapter behind).
