My new tat’s =)

My new tat’s =)

I got some new tat’s.

(Yay)!

I all ready had the star on the back of my neck but I decided to add to it.

The star symbolized my SIMA (a test for determining your motivated abilities).

Apparently, I’m a STAR!  Or at least I’m motivated to be one. =)

When my supervisor & I were debriefing my SIMA results he encouraged me to be who, what & how God has made me to be: a star for Jesus.  He said be a star, but not for myself.

So I did what anyone would do…

I ran out & got a star tattoo’ed on my neck! =)

Anyway, in the last two years that I’ve had the star I’m in amazement at how difficult it is to keep that focus on the Lord and not on myself.

Last year, I was going through a -really good- Bible study guide through the book of Psalms by Beth Moore called Stepping Up.

I came across a quote I really liked from Psalms 127:

“Nisi Dominus Frustra”

It’s Latin for:

Unless the Lord is with us, our labor is vain. Psalm 127  OR

Literally, it just means ‘if not the master, in vain;’ OR

Without the Lord frustration.

What better place to be reminded of that than under the star???

If I try to go off and become a star without the Lord?…

FRUSTRATION.

(Trust me, I did that at 18.  That lesson is officially learned)!

I also got 3 additional stars added just for kicks to represent my little fam: Dave, Ransom & Rhys.

On to the next…

I had a tat on my right wrist that I wanted to cover up.

I decided to get something that represented one of my favorite Psalms.

Psalms 1: 1-3

1 Blessed is the one

who does not walk in step with the wicked

or stand in the way that sinners take

or sit in the company of mockers,

2 but whose delight is in the law of the LORD,

and who meditates on his law day and night.

3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,

which yields its fruit in season

and whose leaf does not wither—

whatever they do prospers.

It’s about a chick (in my case) who finds joy, peace and solace in the Bible and who takes it in on a pretty regular basis.  I’ve realized in the last 2-3 months how much my mind and heart are soothed and fed by my times in the Bible.  When I’m not in it, I’m tossed about with all sorts of wild ideas about how things are in the world, about what I should value and what I should have.  Mostly all coming from various websites like fabsugar.com.  Hardly a reputable source on how one should live and think!

I’d been tossing around ideas and finally I decided to get a tree planted in front of a stream, ripe with fruit as a reminder of my daily need to take delight in the light of my life, my source, my guide…what makes the absolute most sense to me: The Bible.

Taaa daaaa….

For perspective sake (only it’s not that big)…Really does look huge here, but only the size of two quarters! =)

Next…

A few years ago when I changed my name to Grace (from GracEE) & tattoo’ed myself in rememberance I didn’t love the actual tat.  Hence the tree.

This time I got it the way I wanted on the other wrist.

Only you’ll have to trust me, b/c I haven’t taken a picture yet.

It’s in Ancient Greek.  It says “I am God’s grace.”

(For my seminary friends: Eimi Karis tou Theou) =)

Next…

I got an itty-bitty 26.2 tatted on my left foot below my ankle.  I ran a doggone marathon & I never want to forget it!

Next…

Okay that was all, but I’m in the plans for my next three! =)

I really really really want a labyrinth –one of the primary means of God speaking to me.

More on that when I get them.

Next…

I decided to do something I’ve been considering for a whopping 5 years.

I got my nose pierced.

So, what’s the spiritual significance of that?

Well, its…

nothing.

Just a cute accessory. =)

Wohoo for ways to decorate our bodies! =)

Anybody else got any new tats?  Or any new ideas for ones you want???
