I ain’t no Hobbit, y’all.

I ain’t no Hobbit, y’all. January 25, 2011

My desire for adventures is not very Hobbit-like, but I do love a good 2nd Breakfast! =)

I love me some adventures.

Part of my job with InterVarsity is to travel to around our region meeting students at various Universities.  Sometimes I sit in a Panera for 7 hours and a new student sits down to chat every hour on the hour.  Sometimes I lead a Bible study on campus for 30 students or preach a message for 130 students.  Yesterday my job took me to the University of Michigan to meet some students from their highly acclaimed Gospel Chorale.  Today, I trained new InterVarsity staff the biblical basis for pursuing both multi-ethnic and ethnic specific fellowships on our campuses.  Tomorrow, I’ll be sitting in my office -or my own Panera- coordinating details of an upcoming conference with the hotel liason.

Bottome line: every day on staff with InterVarsity is an adventure.

And I need adventure.  I thrive on adventure.  Every time I get tempted to move on from InterVarsity I have to ask myself if I’ll ever find another job that looks different 300 days of the year.

On the flip side, part of the reason I love blogging is because I love the adventurous side of it.  I got a big surprise today…

On Thu. I’ll be on the phone alongside 15 other Mommy-bloggers to interview Katherine Heigl about her life as a new Mama!  Sometime after the interview, I’ll be hosting a giveaway for her new DVD Life as We Know It (out Feb. 8) along with the soundtrack!

How about you?  Do you have an adventerous streak?  In what ways do you exercise your adventure muscle?  How long goes without adventure before you feel bored out of your mind?
