I tweeted the other day how I’ve been asking for all my speaker honorariums in itunes gift cards! It’s been so much fun!
Also, I’ve been ravenous for new genre’s of music.
Here’s a brief run-down of the new music with suggestions of a few songs from each artist…
1. Adele 21 – Woah. Holy mother of a singer/songwriter. This British chick is bad. (And by “bad” I mean “good.”)
****MUST HAVE SONGS: 1) Rollin’ in the Deep 2) Take It All 3) Someone Like You 4) I Found a Boy 5) Make You Feel my Love.
2. Michael Jackson: Number Ones – How can you possibly go wrong with 18 of Mike J’s number one hits? (You can’t).
3. Corine Bailey Rae: The Sea – Smooth, jazzy, R & B at it’s finest. She’s sultry and raspy. I love it.
****MUST HAVE SONGS: 1) Like a Star 2) Put Your Records On 3) Is This Love? 4) Little Wing.
4. Keri Noble: When it Don’t Come Easy – A.May.Zing singer/songwriter with the most beautiful, thoughtful intricately woven lyrics + a sick smooth voice. (And I mean “sick” as in “fantastic.”) I love love love all her music!
****MUST HAVE SONGS: 1)Pages of My Letters 2) Leave Me in the Dark 3) Moving to Dallas 4) Ooo Ooh 5) Make Me Believe 6) Loves Me Crazy 7) Falling 8. If No One Will Listen
5. Jack Johnson – Yet another incredible singer/songwriter with a gift for a nice slow jam ala Norah Jones. His music is relaxing & beautiful.
****MUST HAVE SONGS: 1)Upside Down 2) Better Together 3) Banana Pancakes
(For Jack, I bought the itunes essentials which is 2-3 songs from each of last 10 albums. In short, I’ve yet to behold all the wonder Jack can bring) =)
5. Taylor Swift: Speak Now – Okay, okay, I know, I know I bought a country album?!?! Frankly, I’m still shocked. I was roped in by her catchy tune, “Today was a Fairytale,” playing through the credits of that awful movie, “Valentines Day.” I love this album though —It’s just a lot of fun.
****MUST HAVE SONGS: 1) Never Grow Up 2) Today was a fairytale 3) Dear John 4) Mean
