Finally getting around to trying out all those FAB outfits I’ve been pinning to death on Pinterest October 19, 2011

Fashionista’s…

I have been LOVING Pinterest lately, primarily because there are so many incredible fashion ideas.  It really makes me one want to drool…but mostly just inspires me to use the clothes I’ve got to make cute outfits I hadn’t previously thought of.

Anyhoo, I’ve been pinning looks I want to try on my “Fashion Dahling” pinboard and I thought I’d share some just for kicks.

The PERFECT time to try new looks is a weekend jaunt to the big apple, no?

When I head off to NYC for the Blogher / Penguin Writer’s Conference adventure, I’ll be up and on my feet from 6:15am – 10pm, so comfort is my top priority.

Here’s my plans kiddo’s…

(in the manner of one of my fave fashion blogs, What I Wore)

My look on the left is comprised of:

-Old Navy Dark Blue Denim Skinny Jeans

-My fave bright cherry-red kicks, by far the most expensive shoes I have ever bought in my entire life.  I-can’t-even-tell-you-how-much expensive, but I’ll give you a hint; the gym shoes I bought to train and run a 1/2 and whole marathon were $130 and I was about to keel over at that price. Thing is, I decided I needed at least one pair of out of my, ahem, many pairs of shoes that are actually comfortable to walk in.  These are my one pair.  And I wear them all. the. time.

-A $5 red tee -T.J. Maxx Clearance rack find “Everybody talks about my blog!” =)

-Another $5 find -a chunky red necklace I found at Chicago’s Airport.

-Red ring, WalMart, $2

-Red/Black Striped sweater, WalMart, $12

I’ll probably end up adding my thick black scarf so I don’t have to drag a coat along.

On Friday, I also decided to stick with flat shoes, same jeans, a fun shirt & a fitted blazer to kick it up a notch.

-Black “suede” knee high boots, flat from Target, 2008 (not my actual boots)

-Blue printed shirt, Kohl’s -clearance rack, baby! $11

-Black Blazer, Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s – $35

-Blue scarf – WalMart – $5 bones.

-Same Old Navy jeans as yesterday in my effort to pack light.

-Gold bengal bracelet’s from Walmart – $6

-Earrings & Necklace, all from Walmart – about $15 combined.

-The blue ring I got from Express 10 years ago! $20 ($2 per year)! =)

-My black Aldo purse – a birthday gift from my hubby, 2009. (not my actual purse, mine is cuter! =)

Inspiration below…

In the past few years, I’ve realized I LOVE a great fitted blazer.  It really does forgive all manner of outfits.  I love the Lauren Conrad one that I have b/c the sleeves come down for a more business-y look.

Remember my post about color blocking?

Well, I decided to dig around in my closet and see what I had.  Turns out I have two different purple/bright orange/teal looks I could attempt to put together.  I also have orange and purple tights, I’m sort of an accessories maniac, y’all!

On the left:

-a cheapo orange Old Navy t-shirt, $3 clearance.

-Purple Miley Cyrus for Max Azaria jeans from WalMart, $10

-Teal/Silver Necklace from one of my besties from Lebanon

-Cuff bracelet, circa a festival in Downtown Detroit, 1998! $10, still love it!

On the right:

-an orange-ish Merona dress from Target – Clearance, $8.00

-Purple Charlotte Russe v-neck sweater with 3/4 sleeves – clearance, $6

Inspiration for look on the right:

I saw the above look on Pinterest yesterday.  A summer dress with a winter sweater over it –seriously how fab? I’m not sure if my purple sweater over the orange dress would magically turn out as cute as this look but hey why not try, eh?

Whenever I get all these clothes on my body I’ll let you know if they actually turn out cute! =)

So, what do you think?

Are you on Pinterest?

If not, why the heck not?

What’s your favorite part of Pinterest?
