Friday #iphoneography ~ In the Christmas Spirit

Usually, we get the tree up 4 days before Christmas & take it down sometime between March & August. This year our attentive-to-details 6 yr. old insisted we did at immediately after Thanksgiving.

I think we’ll keep him.

Man. I had to really let go of my perfectionism while decorating the tree with R1! Eventually, my perceptive little man could perceive my inner-angst and told me if I wanted to change a few things he decorated I could.

Ahhhhh…

My ~~secret~~ inner OCD calmed.

Another year, Dave & I are so happy about our black angel Christmas tree topper! There’s not many positive, non-sexualized, non-celebrity images, non-angry images of black women out there, so we love this redeemed image of blackness. R1 saw it and said, “she sure is beautiful, Mama.”

See? We are definitely keeping him!

A few years ago, my Ma bought me this nativity set, which I didn’t fully appreciate at the time. (Ungrateful tool that I was). The next Christmas when I put it up we realized how gorgeous it really is.

Isn’t the detailing beautiful?

After all our hard work we sat back to enjoy the fruit of our labor which literally took about 7 hours because we had to sort all of R2’s many living room toys & then move our living room around to fit said tree.
