Maundy Thursday + Give an Easter Basket of….Candy? No, Hope.

Maundy Thursday + Give an Easter Basket of….Candy? No, Hope. March 28, 2013

Today is Maundy Thursday.  Maundy is the foot-washing that Jesus gave the disciples on the night they enjoyed their Last Supper together.

Early this morning with Ransom on my left  reading a Lego book & Rhys on my right reading The Monster at the End of This Book (loudly on an iphone app with Grover in his squeaky high pitched voice) I tried to meditate on this passage in the book of John where said feet-washing & Last Supper took place.   (Per my usual, I’m still using this devotional to spend 20-ish minutes with the Lord most mornings).

If you haven’t yet today, I’d recommend doing a bit of Maundy Thursday reflection. You don’t need to be Catholic, Episcopal or anything else to take part.  No one owns Maundy Thursday.

On another note, I’d like to point you to an Easter giving opportunity to World’s Vision work with impoverished families. Dave & I have been regular, monthly donors to World Vision for several years now.  We have two beloved little boys through their child sponsorship program, Wilder & Terefe.  We absolutely adore World Vision and respect their work for the vulnerable world-wide.

Give a Basketful of Hope.

Celebrate Easter with gifts that change lives!Give a basketful of hope

Give now

“He has risen, just as he said.”

— Matthew 28:6 (NIV)~

Easter is almost here, and it’s the perfect time to give a basketful of hope. Animals like chickens, ducks, and goats are gifts that keep on giving. For children and families living in poverty, this means a reliable source of both food and income.

Giving in these ways are practical, tangible ways to celebrate Easter this year: giving life-changing gifts.

Perhaps you’ve given up that pricey Starbucks addiction for Lent?  Why not make those extra dollars count in the life of a family struggling to make ends meet?

Disclosure: All links in this post take you to World Vision where you can give a tax-deductible gift.  This is not a sponsored post & I do not receive any gifts, financial or otherwise for highlighting these programs.   I simply love challenging well-to-do internet users to give gifts that impact people. =)

Blessings on your Maundy Thursday!  Do you have an Maundy Thursday traditions?
