Halle Berry? Or something like that, at least. Because last night I put these… in the bathroom sink… and left A LOT of this on the floor… Now, of course I didn’t mean to get quite so scissor-happy, but Ransom & I were watching The Princess & the Frog so I’m sure you understand how one can get carried away. Also, I’ve been kinky 4 months. I was bored. TO BE CONTINUED… Read more

I can’t believe it’s been 7 months since I last wrote a post about my struggle with depression. It’s been an on-again-off-again-hate-hate relationship depression & I.  For the past few weeks we’ve been -unfortunately- joined at the hip.  (Which may explain last Sunday’s tirade of a post. Note to self: depression + blogging DO NOT go together)! Anyway, I found it helpful to write about depression for one of my homework assignments for my Creative Writing class.  We were assigned... Read more

Today I was thinking about what a messy Christian I am, and have been.  The things that make me truly messy I don’t blog about (often, that is) so you probably think I’m some sort of goody two shoes –which I am soooooo, not.  Ask my husband. Or my 5 best friends. Or my last 3 supervisors. I remember one of my best bud’s “J” telling me her landlords -missionaries in another country- had a really hard time with her... Read more

The genocide in Darfur is deteriorating.  As, I looked at my 8 month old this morning I felt heavy-hearted as I considered what it would be like to not be able to feed him. I’m in awe of the women who love their kids so much but have to watch them starve. These women have relocated to displacement camps but still live with the constant threat of rape. The situation there is awful, and I admit even my prayers... Read more

What you are about to read is one of my assignments for my Creative Writing 101 class.  I went back & forth about whether or not to post about losing my virginity.  Here’s my conclusions: 1.  We all know I’m not a virgin.  I’ve been married 10 years & have 2 beautiful boys, so it’s no secret that I “lost” it.  🙂 2.  I’ve been publicly speaking to High School & College youth groups, InterVarsity chapters & even InterVarsity staff... Read more

My main man has been such a committed, loving, consistent, awesome Dad to our little kiddos.  Growing up, I may have given two moments thoughts to what kind of Dad my future husband would be.  Not in my wildest dreams did I think my kids would hit the jackpot like they did with Dave.  I couldn’t ask for more. He loves them unconditionally.  Ransom adores him.  Rhys, well, at 8 months he’s a schooch indifferent. 🙂 I would love it... Read more

I’m pretty excited that we are headed to Chicago tomorrow for a family-fun-vaca-mommy-blogger trip. I got invited through the Blogher Network to be a part of this trip where we will be staying on Mickey-D’s headquarters, meeting with upper-up’s about nutrition, family values, etc., visiting a Ronald McDonald Charity house, going behind-the-scenes, getting a visit from the sort of freaky & scary Ronald McDonald himself & doing some fun kiddo activities with our respective broods. I’ll be joined by these... Read more

We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth… The creation waits in eager expectation… creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay… Creation was subjected to frustration, not by it’s own choiceThe fact that God is working to redeem all of creation… …man, that’s all we can hope in the midst of this mess. Hi friends of mine who wouldn’t include yourself in the “Christian” category, How are you?  Good?  Good.  I’m great. So, last week I got an idea to write an open letter to any of you, my blog readers, who aren’t Christians.  Why?  I get sort of sick of all these obnoxiously irrelevant blogs speaking Christanese and being way too preachy. I’m humbly hoping to give a view of Christianity from my perspective that isn’t annoying, filled with weird jargon while... Read more

I’m not from rows of houses that all look the same. Where perfectly manicured lawns are kept and cared for with such attention they know they will never be free to grown long and mischievous-like. I’m not from that house with two parents living inside.   I’m not the daughter who has parents who like one another and prove it by hugging and kissing and laughing at one another’s lame-ass jokes. I’m not from that house where juice came in little... Read more
