Wouldn’t it be cool if I was referring to us having twins?  (Oddly enough, we were both strangely disappointed we were only having one this time around). Anyway, Dave & I are about 98% certain we are going to start a blog together!  We spent the 2.5 hr. drive today to see his Grandma talking about all our ideas for it, and got down a list of the 1st 42 posts.  Yes, you read that right, we all ready know... Read more

Another great Pixar creation!  It made me laugh, it made me cry -big shocker- and it moved my heart: go after big dreams!  Never give up!  Do what’s right!  It was awesome.  There was one part of the story line that irked me, but overall I heartily enjoyed it! Grade: A Recommend: Yep! * A word on the PG-13 rating… Against my better judgement I took Ransom to see it.  Dave was at a conference for 6 days & perhaps... Read more

Eh.  Didn’t love it.  (Finally, a movie review I didn’t love, huh?)  Well, it says alot because I love romantic comedies & I’m fairly easy to please. Too many characters & I didn’t get to know any of them.  The one that I did find myself caring about at all (played by Ginnifer Goodwin) wasn’t believable.  C’mon, could she really be that desperate for a date? I was offended by the advice given and message sent out which seemed to... Read more

This is probably an exxageration, but I feel like the best summers I can remember are ones where I’ve spent the majority of it in the water.  When you grow up in the frozen tundra Michigan you come to really appreciate that all to brief June-July-August window when you can actually enjoy the water. For the past couple days Ran & I have been at a retreat on a lake house with some of our friends from InterVarsity.  It made... Read more

Regardless of whether you voted for Obama, or like or do not love his new policies if you could for the 5 minutes it will take you to read this blog, forget about that whole President-of-the-United-States gig he’s currently got.  Think of him as one of my good friends, just someone I grew up with.  (Okay, obviously not true either, but please)? Or, just think of him as Barack Obama, memoir writer.  Since he penned his memoir in 1995, long... Read more

Friends, I’d love if you shared with me a time you threw yourself a giant pity party.  It may make me feel a little better for yesterday’s sad display.  As the day went on I just realized I was being so crabby to Dave & Ransom.  I found myself thinking about how “not fair” this is that my husband gets two of what he likes while I get zero.  I found myself being mad at the baby every time I... Read more

No Biskie Beauty for me.  It’s a boy. The saddest part of the whole day was when the ultrasound first started it happened to be right there on the parts & at first I saw three little lines (what your looking for with a girl) & I thought, “I knew it!  I knew it was a girl!”  I was so happy for like 3 seconds & then all of a sudden it’s like his little penis just popped up out... Read more

After my last blog, I felt so heavy-hearted.  I came home from Panera & got on the couch and cried my little eyes out.  I think processing all of that proved to somewhat cathartic.  I just had this overwhelming sense of love for this new baby whether it’s boy, girl, blind, deformed, pink, purple or polka-dot.  So, I’m ready for whatever comes my way tomorrow morning!  I think if I cry it will be tears of joy.  I really do... Read more

This Friday morning is the day we find out -hopefully- if we are are having a boy or a girl.  I’ve had my heart set on a girl and at one point I even felt like perhaps the Lord was leading me to believe that I was having a girl by giving me the name, “Sophia.” (I have since decided I can’t say with 100% surity it was the Lord, maybe especially since the name Sophia, while beautiful is far... Read more

In one word: great!  In a lot more words… When Dave & I arrived they were just finishing up their Mandarin language service & I’m telling you my heart plummeted to my belly.  Typically when I speak, I feel a healty amount of adrenalin kicking in for a steady 8-10 hours beforehand.  But last night, I slept well, and didn’t feel a thing, I was actually quite worried.  No adrenaline for me as a speaker means I do a poor... Read more
