"People's true colors shine brightest under pressure," some say. Well,
the current Republican leadership's colors are shining really bright
right about now.
The best advice Oprah Winfrey says she ever got came from
legendary poet Maya Angelou: "When someone shows you who they
are believe them the first time."
Well, yesterday on MSNBC Decision 2006 …
- Ken Mehlman (RNC Chairman)
defended the RNC's racist
ad against Harold Ford (D-TN). Ford could become the nation's
first African American senator elected in the south since the
reconstruction era. See Ford's
Response to the ad here. - Kerry Healey (R-MA)
ran an ad with racist undertones against her Black opponent, Deval
Patrick, who is currently leading in the polls. See Patrick's
response to Healey's toxic campaign here. - Michael
Steele (R-MD) is running a deceptive bumper sticker campaign. The
bumper stickers read "STEELE – Democrat". Ken
Mehlman defended Steele and his tactics on MSNBC. (Steele
segment, halfway through Decision 2006 "Mehlman Defends Tennessee
ad" video clip).
On NBC Today…
- Rush
Limbaugh actually attacked Michael J. Fox, accusing him of faking his
illness for a Maryland Senate race ad in favor of stem cell
research. Limbaugh said his moving around on screen was
"clearly an act." (Limbaugh segment, halfway through "Mehlman
Defends Tennessee ad" video
clip).
Many of us are still gawking in disbelief: "Did
they really do that?" "Did I really just hear him say what I
thought I heard him say?" "Are they really defending that?"
The answers are yes, yes, and yes.
"People's true colors shine brightest under
pressure," some say. Well, the current Republican leadership's
colors are shining really bright right about now.
A Republican Party representative on MSNBC last night said,
"If you're gonna get into the race, you have to be willing to play
hardball."
This isn't hardball! This is straight evil! And
this evil is being defended as good and justified by the RNC leader.
There is nothing worse you can do in scripture, than to
declare something that is evil – good. Does Christian America really want
to align itself with this party?
I say it's time for Christians to wake up and see the colors
of the rainbow. They're shining bright and clear. It's time to
forsake party loyalty, and take a stand.
The Republican Party is showing us all who their
leadership really is. We need to believe them the first time …
and remember what we've seen on November 7th.
