We are pleased to announce that Faithful Democrats (www.faithfuldemocrats.com) is now accepting fellowship applications for the 2008-2009 academic year.  In the few short weeks between the Democratic Convention and Election Day, we at Faithful Democrats will proudly be working to elect Democratic candidates who embody a more just and compassionate form of politics. It goes without saying that our emphasis for the first few weeks of this fellowship will be on the day-to-day issues surrounding the current campaigns. Yet beyond November 4^th, you also will discover the unique opportunity to join us in shaping policies that promote the common good while building strong credentials within the Democratic Party by making your voice heard in the progressive Christian community.

Faithful Democrats is an online Christian community dedicated to working for the common good.  We are founded on the belief that no one political party owns the “faith vote” or that any one religion has a monopoly on faith.  Nevertheless, we unapologetically ground our identities as Democrats in our Christian faith.  We believe that pursuing justice and compassion is not only morally right, but is the basis for sound and successful governmental policies.  In the upcoming weeks be on the lookout for exciting design updates to our site as we strive to better help people of faith engage the public sphere. 

If chosen as a fellow, Faithful Democrats will provide a place where your thoughts on policy and politics can reach a wide audience of visitors through our high-traffic website. Fellows will contribute regular columns to the site and will be an integral part of our work in shaping the public discourse at the intersection of religion and politics.  This is all a part of a broader effort to build the web-based outreach efforts by Democrats; and so while Faithful Democrats has played a central role in this area during recent elections, our board has decided to commit to this fellowship program in order to give graduate students and others a new chance to contribute during 2008-2009.
