Pastor and Author Joel Osteen Is Getting His Own Reality Show

Mega-popular megachurch pastor Joel Osteen, author of the bestseller Your Best Life Now and other faith-based self help books, is coming to TV. Producer Mark Burnett, whose hit reality show roster includes Survivor and The Apprentice, will be at the helm. In addition to Osteen, the show will feature his wife, Victoria Osteen, and members of their Lakewood Church in Houston. Burnett and his wife, Touched By An Angel actress Roma Downey, are devout Christians and friends with the Osteens, so the collaboration makes sense.

“Each episode will center on a three- to four-day mission trip, and Osteen imagines flying 200 to 300 Lakewood Church members to different areas of the country, such as poor neighborhoods and areas struck by natural disasters, and following their efforts to serve the community,” the Houston Chronicle reported. Osteen compared the show to Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and added that it was important to him that the show have a focus on inspiration and betterment.

The as-yet-untitled show doesn’t have either a name or a network, but considering how much press it has already gotten and how much influence Burnett has, that processs shouldn’t take too long.
