1. DreamWorks and Aardman Animation, the team behind the upcoming Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit and Chicken Run (2000; my review) — which briefly held the title of top-grossing non-Disney cartoon of all time until DreamWorks’ own Shrek (2001) more than doubled its cume a year later — have hired John Cleese to write their next film, a prehistoric comedy called Crood Awakening, says the Hollywood Reporter.
2. John Carpenter is making a movie called The 13th Apostle, says the Hollywood Reporter, but there doesn’t sound anything all that, y’know, biblical about it.
3. A paleontologist has admitted delaying the announcement of the discovery of a dinosaur find, in order to help the publicity campaign of Jurassic Park III (2001; my review, which seems to have been over-edited), reports the Associated Press.
4. Paul Schrader talks to Reuters about his upcoming Exorcist prequel, which opens May 20 and is different from the Exorcist prequel that was released last summer (my review), and which was different in turn from Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977), which had flashback elements that contradict both of these films. I may be interviewing Schrader myself in the next few days, so stay tuned.
