The Enterprise, re-re-re-rendered. November 11, 2008

Entertainment Weekly has posted the following image of the U.S.S. Enterprise — the original ship, with “no bloody A B C or D,” as Scotty once put it — as it will appear in the new Star Trek movie:

Here, as a memory jog, is how a section of the ship looked when it was still “under construction”, as seen in the teaser:

And here is how the half-built ship looks in the new trailer:

Here is how the ship looks in the “remastered” high-def version of the original series that has come out over the past year or so:

Here is how it looked in the ‘Trouble with Tribbles’ episode of the original series itself (1967):

And finally, just to be complete, here is how it looked in the original pilot episode ‘The Cage‘ (1964) — back in the days before James T. Kirk, when Christopher Pike was the ship’s captain:

NOV 18 UPDATE: I have added a new image of the Enterprise from the trailer that was released over the weekend. I put it above, rather than here at the bottom of this post, since it seemed to fit with the other picture of the ship “under construction”.
