King Saul’s family keeps right on growing. Deadline reports that James Floyd — who is half Indian-Singaporean, half white British — has been cast as Ish-Bosheth, the youngest son of Saul (Ray Winstone) and Ahinoam (Simone Kessell) and brother to Michal (Maisie Richardson-Sellers), in ABC’s Of Kings and Prophets.

In the Bible, Ish-Bosheth is the second king of Israel, though he is often overlooked in lists of the Israelite kings because he reigned for only two years, and he spent his entire reign engaged in a civil war with David and the tribe of Judah. Ish-Bosheth was ultimately murdered by two of his own men while negotiating his surrender.

But all of that presumably takes place long, long after the events of this pilot.

Other cast members announced so far include Oliver Rix as David and Haaz Sleiman in an unspecified role. The pilot was written by Adam Cooper and Bill Collage, who wrote the original draft of Ridley Scott’s Exodus: Gods and Kings.

Incidentally, note that Deadline calls Saul’s wife “Ahinoam” this time. When they announced that Kessell was playing the character, they called her “Anohim”, which is not the name that appears in the Bible. I guess that was just a typo.
